How Much Should You Pay for a Website?

This is likely the first thing that will come to mind when you are thinking of getting a website built. There is no right answer to this question. Instead, we highly recommend asking yourself a series of questions when you are looking for a website to be built.

Question 1How much maximum budget do you have to spend on your website?

Figure this out ahead of time while shopping for web developers. It is important to know that if you are paying someone to build a website FOR YOU that it will cost you more just like for any professional service. Keep in mind, you always have the option to build your own site with a drag and drop builder platform BUT they have their drawbacks. Oftentimes, those platforms will own your site. Building your own website on one of those platforms also takes time away from your own business. And as any business owner knows, time is money!

Question 2What are the ‘must haves’ you want your site to have?

Before even meeting with professional website designers know what you want your site to look like and how it should function. Come prepared with examples of sites you like so the developers know the style of websites you are drawn to. The more upfront you are with website ‘must-haves’ from the start, the more clear price quotes you will receive.

Question 3Do you want to be able to manage your own site after it is live OR do you want to be completely hands off?

Websites, like most things, need a little TLC. If you have a custom site built with WordPress and other custom platforms, be ready to pay someone to manage it every month to make sure it is secure, up-to-date and as beautiful as it was meant to be.

If you don’t want to pay anyone to manage your site after it goes live – you CAN STILL have a high end site built with a custom platform like WordPress BUT expect to pay someone at some point to make updates to it. You can also build it on your own with a plug n play platform – but be ready to manage it yourself. Which again, takes valuable time away from your business

If you decide to hire someone to build your website, come armed with the answers to these questions! They will help you get a more accurate website quote upfront and have a more in-depth conversation about what you need and expect from a new website. As always, working with professionals, like us at Brightside Creative Solutions, takes the hassle out of website development. We have your best interest at heart and work with you every step of the way!
